Space for Great Art –
The World's Largest Three-Genre Theater on its Way to the Future

The Württembergische Staatstheater Stuttgart is the world's largest three-genre theater and one of the most significant cultural institutions in the state of Baden-Württemberg and the state capital Stuttgart. Through the comprehensive renovation, modernization, and expansion of this institution, a cultural heritage is being preserved for future generations.

The major project, comprising three construction endeavors, includes the establishment of an interim location near the Wagenhallen in Stuttgart-Nord, the new construction of a workshop building at the Zuckerfabrik in Bad Cannstatt, and the renovation, modernization, and structural expansion of the listed opera house on the Upper Palace Gardens – the Littmann-Bau.

Architectural and urban planning accents are to be set at all three locations. Simultaneously, the spaces for ensembles, workshops, and the audience are being re-envisioned with the aim of creating forward-looking spaces for art, creativity, and encounter.

As a professionally competent institution, ProWST assumes all operational client-side responsibilities.

These responsibilities encompass project management, tendering and contract awarding, along with the functional, economic, and quality oversight of all planning and construction services, extending through to the completion and handover of the buildings to the Württembergische Staatstheater Stuttgart.
