Start of the competition for the Oberer Schlossgarten

October 9, 2025

117 years ago, a theater project of international significance was launched in Stuttgart: the construction of what is now the opera house in the Upper Palace Gardens, known as the Littmann Building. With the start of the competition for its renovation, modernization, and expansion, a new chapter in the history of the world's largest three-genre theater is now beginning.

Specialist excursions to the major renovation projects in Germany

28.04.2025

The ProWST team is keen to engage in a constructive exchange with the planning teams of major refurbishment projects for stage buildings in Germany. The team has already visited Frankfurt with the New Opera and Drama department and the planning team in Mannheim, which is responsible for the refurbishment of the Nationaltheater. Other stops included Karlsruhe, where the construction site for the refurbishment and extension of the Badisches Staatstheater was visited, and Nuremberg. This is where the renovation and extension of Bavaria's largest multi-genre theater is being implemented.
