Space for great art -
The world's largest three-genre theater on its way into the future

The Württembergischen Staatstheater are the world's largest theater combining three genres of performing arts and one of the most important cultural institutions of the federal State Baden-Württemberg. The comprehensive renovation, modernization and expansion of this institution will preserve the precious cultural heritage for future generations.

The project, consisting of three sub-projects, includes the erection of a temporary location at the Wagenhallen in Stuttgart-Nord, the construction of a new workshop building at the former sugar factory in Bad Cannstatt and the renovation, modernization and expansion of the listed opera house at Oberer Schlossgarten - the Littmann-Bau.

Architectural and urban design highlights are going to be set at all three locations. At the same time, the spaces for ensembles, workshops, and the public will be reimagined – with the goal of creating new opportunities for art, creativity, and encounters.

As an expert and politically independent institution ProWST bears the main responsibility for the realization oft the project.

This includes project management, tendering and awarding, as well as the design and cost monitoring of all planning and construction services - right up to the completition an handover oft the buildings to the Württembergischen Staatstheater Stuttgart.
